Show and Share Challenge - Music Mojo

The challenge this week is to create or post a layout that involves music. Your layout can be about music, contain song lyrics, or have music inspired papers and embellishments. Let's see what you ladies have for us!

March DT - tinkering ink

Right NOW this was fun! I had a chance to play with tinkering ink - what beautiful paper! I painted the Tim Holtz Grunge board - LOVE LOVE that stuff!!! Each picture has it's own little journaling tag - with what each of us is doing this moment - right now! I had lots of fun with the rub-ons.... and other embellies!

March DT Kit - Part 2

Thanks Shawna!
I had a great time putting together my first two projects. Creative Imaginations makes some super cute papers and these two lines are no exception. The football paper is from their 'Xtreme Sports' line. I like that the brown and neutral colors will work well no matter what colors your team plays in. I used a brown ink pad on the white part of the card and the white part of the layout to make it look dirty.
The second line I played with is called 'Renae's House.' I love that it is so fun and flowery, spring-timey (is that even a word?) and reminds me that warmer weather is on the way (yeah, right).

March kit 2 with American Crafts!

I LOVED these papers! Some of it was really busy and it was challenging to work with lots of patterns but I loved it! The first layout is also my challenge for scrapmojo, which is a neat challenge blog. I did lots of handwritten journaling on these, something I have needed to do more of.

For the sanding technique on this, i just used a metal nail file. the metal file allows you to trace a more precise outline and finer sanding strokes. Its a really neat effect! Try it on a photo that was blurred or one you wont use first to get a feel for the type of file you use!

Hi Everyone!
I love this new "Get Happy" line from Cosmo Cricket! There are so many things these papers work great for...layouts, birthday cards, thank you cards etc. etc. I altered a "President's" cheese box (you can find these at Safeway or Rosaurs) as a gift box for Mother's Day. The extra bonus is eating good cheese with crackers (I think this one was Camembert)- one of my favorites.
I printed off all of my greetings on the computer...the colors of the paper were washed out a bit from the camera flash- it's too bad, that's the best part of these papers...the colors! Super bright and cheerful! I freehanded the smile and inked the edges on the "you make me smile"card, as well as the petals on the blank card.
Cheers!

My kit this time around is from KI's new Elsie line for sports. That Elsie does good work...no kidding. I had a ton of fun stretching myself with her busy patterns and funky colors. I never doodle, but I did this time...and it was so fun! Hope you like them!

Cardstock Only Challenge

Ok, this was a hard one for me! I had to go back a long ways to find some layouts. After I did I realize I need to do this more. They are no hassel! The first two are a 2 page layout that used primary colors to accent the photos and the other layout is black and white cardstock with black ink rubbed over the white to create the effect.

Cardstock Challenge + March kit part #1

Here is my layout for the cardstock only challenge! (and yes the stickers are also cardstock stickers) It was difficult but really fun, a good challenge for me since I am used to putting lots of stuff on the page. I liked the way it turned out! If you click on the picture you can read the journaling...the picture was in poor light...sorry!

and here is one of my March kit creations. The rest will be up soon! Can't wait to see everyone else's!

Cardstock Only Challenge

I love this quote from Dr. Seuss! This was easy---rainbow colors of Bazzill Doodlebug cardstock, a corner rounder punch, a large metal rim tag, black brads, a snippet of ribbon, "K" alphabet sticker and it's done!

Cardstock challenge!

This is a page I did last year with lots and lots of doodle journaling! I did use chipboard alphas and shapes! I am just not sure I can do a page without them! So I guess you could say it is a cardstock page with a bit of cheating!

March DT Kit, Part I (continued)

hey, everyone!
here are the cards i made with the cute summery Scenic Route paper. i made the little flower by cutting petals from a Paper Pals bag and gluing them on...i always just stare and stare at those bags thinking, "just look at all that paper!!!" lol

"cardstock only" challenge

what a fun challenge! endless possibilities here, and so freeing!

these first small layouts are from a little 6x6 book (the cover says, "reasons i love you") i made for my husband for valentine's day...just off white cardstock, photos w/ painted edges, a little painty blob for a journaling spot, and a hand-cut circle on painted cardstock to write a little number in... a very quick, easy project, and it's easy to add more pages...and i never have to worry about everything matching!

this next idea involved a little more paint and time...

1. dry brushed white textured cardstock with blue paint
2. used a wet brush to even out coverage
3. dry brushed more colors here and there (lime green, yellow, white, teal, etc.)
4. placed sanded-edge picture
5. stamped little circle flower stamps onto paper i'd previously used to "clean" out my brushes after painting projects (see samples above)
6. while all that was drying, cut strips from painted paper and crumpled, folded, rolled, etc. to soften them a bit so they'd look more like ribbon
7. hand-cut little circles and glued them in place, along with the "ribbon"
8. journaled on hand-cut half-circle, adding different color words to highlight Paul Simon lyrics
9. added sewing doodles, notebook punches, date, etc.

have fun!!!!

DT Kit 1 (3 bugs in a rug)

I am a little slow on this one. Been sick all week! Here's what I have done with the kit this week using 3 Bugs in a rug and coordinating card stock.

For non scrap supplies on this I used sticker backing, paint chip sample, and letters I cut out of a magazine ad for Eggo Waffles!

Also used some of the above mentioned items here, as well as labels from an old cassette tape (red/white), cardboard from my starbucks coffee sleeve and an office supply binder clip.

New Jenny Bowlin !

I had a lot of fun making this page and the cards! I know some people may think a BFF page and a Home embellie together is kinda different.... Laura and I have been friends since we were 12... we don't get to see each other very often since she lives in Texas so every time we are together - it feels like home!!!

New American Crafts....

I had lots of fun playing with this new Spring & Summer English Garden collection of American Crafts printed cardstock and embellishments from the Moscow store! The colors are SO bright and cheerful. The chipboard flowers are part of an embellishment package that coordinates with the papers--I just put a smaller flower on top of a larger one and then topped them off with buttons and ribbon! (The scan has a shadow because of the dimension of the flowers--sorry!) :0)

Hi everyone,
Taking my love of crafting, especially with paper and photos, has become a very regular part of the home decor at the Cory House. Here are a few examples:

Paper Topiary (pattern at www.hellomynameisheather.com) using the Scenic Route Valentine's line. I made three last week and sent one to my Mom and Mother-in-Law.

An old basement window with framed photos. Made this last summer, thanks to my sister-in-law for the idea!

A berry wreath with mini-photos, ribbon, etc.

&
The old print tray filled with goodies that represent our family (note the #5 on the die, domino, playing card, etc.)

Thanks to Donna Downey's "Yes, It's a scrapbook: Home Decor book for the last two. )

These were all very simple projects! Enjoy!
