Photo Challenge

I've really been trying to be better at taking pictures of random, everyday things - not just big planned events and Jen's photo challenge inspired me to really get out and photograph things I wouldn't normally. Thanks for the fun challenge!

These petunias are in a hanging basket right outside our door. They have been faithfully blooming all summer long and I enjoy seeing them everyday, however, it wasn't until I viewed them from a photograph that I realize how lovely they really are. The deep purple of the flowers gets shown off against the green of the leaves and stems.

These were the first peppers of summer for us. I was so excited that something I planted actually grew, and not only grew, but produced lovely little edible Serrano peppers. Just looking at this pictures makes me feel a sense of accomplishment.
Thanks again Jen for the great challenge. I'm going to continue to snap pics of random, everyday things.

Creative Cafe' ...Hooray!!

Paper Pals now carries a selection from the Creative Cafe' line...if you haven't seen it, you are in for a treat! Creative Cafe' flowers, tags, chipboard, etc. can take a good layout or card to great, and the whole time following the K.I.S.S. philosophy.

I had so much fun with the Creative Cafe' pieces I was given, I couldn't stop...three layouts and 3 cards...I can't wait to get some more of this great line!
Enjoy!

Photo Challenge!!!!!

Hey all you fellow DT members,

I want to challenge you all to take photos with you camera that you normally wouldn't take. I have been playing with my camera and taking some portraits and I love it. Some turn out great and some not so good but with every photo I learn something. I recently did a wedding and I have gotten some great feedback from the photos I took. Since photos are at the center of one of our greatest passions; lets play and see what we are all capable of doing with our cameras. Above are a couple samples of what I have been up too.

Have fun, take photos, enjoy the moments!

Hip Hip Hooray for New Bo Bunny Birthday Paper!

These new papers from Bo Bunny are bright, colorful and perfect for any birthday page. Here I made a layout of my nephew's 3rd Birthday. I added bright ribbon and buttons and wrote the journaling from the point of view of my nephew. I found journaling this way to be more interesting and fun than just writing, "Clint turned 3 and we had a big party." Also, I printed the journaling on a transparency and painted on the back side.

This page is an homage to my favorite part of a birthday party, the cake. I love all kinds of cake and thought it would be fun to creat a layout dedicated soley to the delictable pastry. I used the sewing machine to stitch down the side and added a little Hero Arts "Bling" around the title and journaling. I also used the Sizzix machine at Paper Pals to make the circles and cut-outs.

I had just enough paper to cover a box I found in the recyling pile at work. It was really easy. I just covered the box, inked the edges and added a small ribbon on the top and viola! a little gift box or party favor box.

KI Memories from Deb

These are Deb's latest layouts for the Pullman Store. She used the KI Memories Bloom line.

I love the way that she cut apart the apple die-cut paper and used it on all of her pages. She even sanded it (on the last layout)!

You're gunna love it, girl!!

seeing malinda's super cute new picture made me realize i still needed to sign off and say farewell and THANK YOU!! we're all moved and slowing getting settled in our new place in prairie city (i know, kind of an oxymoron!), oregon. the good news? it's beautifully located at the base of the strawberry mountains, everyone is super friendly, the stars at night are INCREDIBLE, my husband's finally got a real job (a.k.a. no longer in SCHOOL!), and i get to be at home with my boys. the bad news? there is no scrapbook store (karen, want to set up a paper pals satellite store?!?!), any kind of semi-emergency medical situation requires a life flight out of here, we miss our friends, parks for the little ones are ANTIQUES (as in splinterville u.s.a.), and did i mention there are no scrapbook supplies anywhere in sight?!?! anyway, i digress...i will really miss being on the design team -- that was such an AWESOME opportunity, karen and shawna!!! i will always be so proud, excited, and thankful to have been a part of that. malinda, you are going to have such a blast...i wish i had the chance to meet you in person!

i'll definitely be checking the blog regularly, and i can't wait to see everyone's goodies! if i decide to take the plunge and set up a blog, i'll let you all know...i'm throwing around the idea of a "little house on the prairie" theme for it! ha, ha!! signing off for now...

hugs,
lindsay

Graphic 45

This is Jessica and her boyfriend Andrew at Prom this spring. I loved using this new paper from GRAPHIC 45! The paper feels good in your hand and is beautiful to work with! I used, once again, the Tim Holtz grungeboard painted with his fun distress paint for the large title. The paint is really fun - if you haven't tried it yet - you need to give it a try! The metal embellies are from Tim Holtz too! All at the Paper Pals Moscow store!

Just a few easy cards from the GRAPHIC 45 collection! The paper is so versatile and fun!

Choxie Love

I love how this page of my doggie, Choxie turned out!

I had a blast and used lots of different techniques on this page! Paint, sewing and modgepodge and more paint and glaze! The arrow is chipboard covered with paper using glitter modge podge. The letters are grunge board ( I never get tired of that stuff! Love it!) painted and then glazed!

All paper is from the new doggie line from Love Elsie - K I Memories

Thanks for looking!

New Camping Papers

Since we go camping about once every 11 1/2 years, I wasn't thinking about all the things a photographer/scrapbooker should be taking photos of while on a July camping trip to Hell's Gate. Nonetheless, I took a few photos and Shawna gave me the new camping papers to create this layout! While I used the arrows paper as a background for camping, imagine all that you could do with it: use your Bazzill arrow chipboard and create layouts about special people, or the "teeny tiny" thing in the far away photo that you are trying to spotlight. The reverse side of these papers are fantastically suited for camping as well...you really must see them!

Stop in to the store and you can pull the "then" tab (bottom left on layout) and read the story of this trip as well as see my only other camping layout (circa 1997). Yeah, my oldest has changed and so has my scrapbooking!

Happy Camping & Happy Scrapping!

Hambly

Check out these cool little pieces of art from London. She used Hambly chandelier overlays and rub-ons, bling, beads, and more! This card is made from Kraft cardstock, red paint, two rhinestones, a Hambly chandelier rub-on, and real necklace chain.

This layout features paint, rub-ons, chipboard buttons, and more. I love that this layout is 6x12 in size.
London's final project is this super cool pair of chandelier earrings. She cut the chandeliers from the overlay sheet and paired them with some chain and beads to make a fabulous fashion accessory.

October Afternoon - in the summer? Yes!

The new October Afternoon paper is in both stores and it is amazing. You saw what Judy did with the line in the Moscow store, now I had the chance to play with the line in the Pullman store. I love it! The shades of blue and orange; the deer, bunnies, dots and flowers...wow! I love it all. I'm sure you will too!!

When you use patterned papers you have to think outside the box. This flower print is fun and spunky...just like the cute kids in the photos...I'm sure you have excellent subjects for such paper too!
I love using quotes on my pages. I don't do it often enough...but Yoda just spoke to me here. I also used some fun chipboard arrows to draw the eye to the semi-blurry "action-shot" of Harrison without his training wheels. My favorite way to treat chipboard is to paint it and after the paint dries apply a thick layer of Diamond Glaze (and in this case some Stickles for some extra pizzazz)!
Really, do you have a photo of a deer...probably not (and don't head to your D.H.'s "office" for a photo of one of his trophies...
this paper is much to whimsical for that type of deer.
Again, outside the box...get creative!

Freedom

OK, so "simple" assignment...use this adorable AdornIt "All American Collection" to create a layout! Simple... until I started searching for pictures taken on the 4th of July holiday---you know, pictures with sparklers, or red, white and blue "flag" shirts, etc. But, alas, I had nothing! So, I had to "think out of the box" and came up with the idea of using the theme of "FREEDOM"...something we all treasure! It was a fun way to use these papers in kind of a non-traditional way!

Carolees Baseball boy and Softball Princess

Baseball Boy!
I had so much fun with this page!

I had a great time doing this collage page! It has lot of inking AND product all from Paper Pals Moscow store! The chipboard arrows are from Bazzill, I inked them, then used crystal glaze over them and let them dry for 8 hours! I love the shiny effect - it shows up much better in person. The stars are rub-ons from the Marrah Johnson Rock Star pack and the big C is grungeboard from Tim Holtz inked love that grunge board! All printed paper is from Carolees and I also used the coordinating stickers.

Another fun collage! I love doing collage pages - it really allows me to feel free and scrap with no boundaries! The Bazzill arrows here I first inked with embossing ink then used black glitter embossing powder and then heat embossed! This page also has the same Rock Star rub-ons and a sweet little crown from Heidi Swapp! I love altering stickers and making them unique. All paper and stickers are from Carolees Softball Princess line.

2 fun easy cards using the Softball Princess Stickers. Wouldn't these be fun birthday cards for that softball princess?!?!
