Picnic Time with Karen Foster Design

Anyone want to join us for a picnic?

These bright pattern papers and cardstock stickers from Karen Foster Design were as juicy and tantalizing as watermelon in summertime! I've had so much fun creating with them.

I'm working on a couple more layouts, but I have this one finished to show you. (Visit the store next week to see the additional pages I'm working on!)

The chipboard stickers were inspiration for my page title and design. The "cute" ants inspired me to use my limited drawing skills and make little marching ant lines across the layout. I also used some kraft paper to create a few buttons to correspond with the fun scalloped kraft paper journaling tag and the cardboard in a design triangle.

I also created a couple of cards that include little handmade watermelon embellishment and a hand painted sun. I usually use pattern paper to inspire simple hand created accents to add a real personal touch to my projects.

Get some of these fun papers for yourself at the store!

Angela! Your cards and pages from the picnic line are so CUTE! Have had several customers ask about your watermelon card! How did she make this? They are so impresses (as am I) that you made your own paper pieced watermelon and all the hand doodling! You are a very creative gal!!

Sorry for the delayed response on a technique...

The watermelon paper piecing was pretty easy. I just cut three semi-circles and trimmed them to match up to where they looked like the rind and melon. I used scallop scissors to cut the "bite" out of the top, and I punched random holes and inserted black brads to represent seeds. So fun!
