"My Minds Eye" So Sophie Collection

Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow!!!!  Loved this collection!!!!  My grandson and daughter had recently visited so being the scrappy Grandma that I am, what did I do (other then cook & love on my grandson alot?) ... I took LOTS! of pictures.  So when I was given these collections to scrap I was excited to get to work.  All papers are part of the So Sophie (My Minds Eye) collection.  On the "Once in a Lifetime" and the "Fresh Air' layouts I used transparencies and various embellishments that are part of the collections. 

The first "Once in a Lifetime" was part of the So Sophie Brothers & Sisters Collection.  I used a sketch that Danielle Calhoun had posted on Facebook, Friday April 9, 2010.

The second "Imagine", again, is part of the So Sophie collection.  I liked that I could put one picture on the LO that captured the essence of the patterned paper.

The third "Fresh Air", part of the So Sophie "We are Family & Loop-De-Loop" collection.

The card for a teacher was 'scraplifted' out of the Cards, March 2008, p110 by Cathy Schellenberg.

  

Scrapping Sports & More... How about Farming???

When I first saw this paper and the stickers/die cuts that paired with it, I knew the perfect picture. Actually, being a farmers wife .... I've plenty of pictures, but this one picture had been waiting for 'that' paper. This line of patterned paper & embellishments are from Scrapping Sports & More! "Down on the Farm".

This picture was taken the morning after we had finished harvest and my husband was driving away from the field. Keep watching our blog to see more of what I've done with this line on some cards I've created. Happy Farming ... and scrapping!

My Minds Eye - Lil Robots

One thing I've discovered as a scrapbooker is that I L.O.V.E. paper and change my mind quite often on what my favorite paper to work with is.  Having two grandsons, it doesn't seem like I can get enough of the 'boy' papers that are out there.  The My Minds Eye - Lil Robots paper ROCKS!  The accessory die-cuts were alot of fun to use with the paper collection. 

Someone's in the Kitchen ....

What a fun bunch of papers to play with. When I was first approached to do 'something' with this line I knew exactly who were going to be the stars, but to find the pictures ... let's just say I'd need a treasure hunt line of patterned papers to show that process! Lo, and behold ... I found them!!!

So without further adeiu (sp?) .... here is my Mom aka Honey in the kitchen ~

For Honey's (12x12) layout I used the Joy of Baking line from Moxxie and the journaling on the recipe card is Creative Imaginations. The rub-ons (Tradition, Yum Yum & Seasoned with Love) are also part of the Joy of Baking/Moxxie line. The fun part of the patterned paper is that both sides have designs --- aprons, polka dots, and cookie cutters (which will be on a card below). All cardstock is Bazzil.

The next star is my Missy baking cookies ....

Using the same line of patterned papers from Moxxie, I created this 8x8 layout of my Missy baking cookies. I had recently read that one way to 'use' up empty or white space in a picture is to add rub-ons, journaling or embellishments. I just didn't think the bottle of detergent looked too appealing in a baking layout, so I added the rub-ons (flour & sugar) from Moxxie. If you look closely you'll see Missy spelled out on the front of a few aprons. I like to use ribbon, buttons & staples on my layouts, so when there is an opportunity to get them on a layout I do ... and I did!

After playing around with the paper and trying different approaches I decided I'd want to give a recipe to someone on these scrumptious journaling cards, so I chose one of my favorite recipes Dump Cake aka "Better then S*x" cake, matted it, & framed it. Once it was in the frame (Ikea), I then tied some ribbon around the frame, added a few buttons and ta-daaah .... a wedding present or maybe a housewarming gift that could be tucked into a basket or baking with all the ingredients, a cute apron & pot holders.

This Cookie Swap Invitation went together pretty quick. I used a darker green cardstock, cut to 8 x 5-1/2. Scored it and then folded it in half. Inked the edges (I seem to do that to everything!). Cut two strips of patterned paper, one @ 5-1/2 x 2-3/4" & the second @ 5-1/2 x about 2" or alittle less (just enough to over lap), ink the edges and then using your adhesive, put them onto the cardstock. The rub-ons used are the Cookie Swap, rolling pin & dough, bowl with utensils & pot holder. The ric-rac was used to not only cover up the overlapping line, but to add some depth. The 'Sweet' heart was created using my Cuttlebug & the Sweet Heart embossing folder.

I can't wait to see what you do with these papers. I think they would be a great line to work with when making tags for bake sales, bridal showers, housewarming gifts and so much more.

"Love, Love Me Do" and Cards!

I had fun putting together these cards using the My Minds Eye *Love Me Do* collection. My lighting was not the best when doing these .. so the reds look much more like burgundy. The first card I used swiss dot textured red CS. The pp is from the Love Me Do line which has designs on both sides. The die cut is part of the Love Me Do embellishment/die-cut sheet -- lots of fun circles, hearts, birds & so many more shapes which I used on my two layouts and also on these cards.

On the middle card I distressed/sanded the PP before putting it onto the CS. I highlighted with some rhinestones. Hey, a girl loves bling -- especially on Valentines Day. I topped the ric-rac border from the embellishment sheet with red ric-rac to provide texture & depth.

On the third card I again used the swiss dot red CS, the birds are from the embellishment sheet and also the half circle on the top left hand corner (it was actually a circle that I cut in half). I added the smaller circle (again from the embellishment sheet) and then added the black dots using a .05 marker.

The Love Me Do line makes card making easy. The papers are all reversible, fun to work with and the embellishment sheet tops it all off! Can't wait to see what you do with this line.

"Love, Love Me Do ... You Know I Love You"

Once I saw the theme of the new My Mind's Eye "Love Me Do" line ... just can't get the song out of my head. What a colorful line! I've been working on these layouts off & on for a few weeks. (Had to take my honeymoon during that time). So after a honeymoon, the Valentine papers were perfect. And also a great break from Christmas cards. The "Love Me Do' line is full of muted-bright colors. I'm one for using cardstock and then adding to the LO with the pattern paper. One thing about the Love Me Do line is the embellishments that come with the line. I chose the pictures from my layouts from my daughter & her family's portraits last spring. The playfulness of the paper highlighted the playful feeling of the pictures.

We R Memory Keepers Grid Pages *First Birthday*

We R Memory Keepers has created a way to streamline layouts,  include more than one picture on a layout and also provide continuity of layouts.  One idea is to create a 12x12 Layout and then follow-up using the various grid-pages to include the extra photos you'd like to add but not necessarily want to take the time to create more layouts.



The page I chose was a 12x12 with 3 4x6 grids on the left side & 1 6x12 grid on the right side.  I chose pictures from my grandson's, MJ, first birthday.  Supplies:  Bazzil CS, Creative Imaginations PP & buttons from my 'stash'.  I used my Cuttlebug to make the First Birthday letters and my Xyron adhesive. 

The fun thing about the grids is that a person could choose to put a picture on its own with no embellishments, cardstock or patterned paper into the sleeve.  Or, as I did in a couple of pictures, I trimmed the photo, added CS & PP and a couple buttons & journaled.  I didn't want to add too many embellishments as I wanted the focus to be on the simplicity & easy to use aspect of the Memory Keepers Grid pages.  With the We R Memory Keepers Grid Pages, there are a wide variety to choose from. 
I enjoy journaling in my own penmanship, so added a small 'blurb' at the bottom of the page -- using the Patterned Pattern to relay the Happy Birthday theme.
